Michelle joined the staff in early January 2010. She grew up near Canberra in Captains Flat on an organic fruit and vegetable farm. After completing her schooling at Narrabundah College, Michelle went on to study at the Australian National University’s School of Art where she achieved Honours in Sculpture and a Bachelor of Visual Arts in Textiles. She also did complimentary studies in glass creation, screen printing and mould making. Michelle brings to Framing Matters not only artistic talents university qualifications but also an enthusiastic vibrancy and a commitment to develop her knowledge and skills in preventative conservation framing.

Michelle states that she dedicates most of her spare time to her art which includes mixed media – sewing, painting, working with steel, and silicone and casting glass. When not focusing on her art she does give time to other interests which include dancing, theatre, reading books, climbing trees and sharing a glass of wine with friends on roof-tops! In her own words Michelle writes, “As an artist I feel that it is important to give artworks the best care possible and it is so refreshing to be able to work in a place where people care so much. The staff will often go above and beyond the call of duty to properly look after a piece. I am particularly interested in textile and object framing and get very excited whenever a beautiful textile comes into Framing Matters.”

Michelle was appointed to the Framing Matters staff  because of her knowledge and skills in art but also, and more importantly, because of her very pleasant and easy nature which will enable her to work confidently and sensitively with the business’ clients.
