Laura moved from Sydney to join the staff in February 2010. Laura grew up on the NSW Central Coast before moving to Sydney. She started her university studies at the National Art School before transferring to the Sydney College of the Arts where she obtained a Bachelor of Visual Arts degree in Printmedia. Laura’s studies covered a wide range of artistic practices and historical studies which ensure that she has a thorough understanding of mediums and art history. Her qualifications and knowledge make her well equipped to manage the demands which will be placed on her at Framing Matters.
Laura has a very pleasant and humorous nature which lends itself to working constructively and sensitively with clients at the front counter. After a number of years retail experience she demonstrates a maturity ahead of her young age. When working with Laura, clients are made to feel comfortable and confident in her knowledge and her design consultations are completed in an atmosphere of congeniality although very professional.
In her spare time Laura gives attention to her own artwork which primarily focuses on working with coloured or graphite pencils. She enjoys drawing detailed portraits, particularly small ones. Laura has stated that she also spends time making her own line of stationery boxes and selling them online at etsy.com. She finds the crafty stuff a nice relaxing break from the over-thinking of the arty stuff.
Laura’s real love in her life is her husband Jason and their two cats, Klimt and Schiele (or Stroppy and Floppy as they are more often called). Having recently moved to Canberra from Sydney, Laura and Jason are in the process of adjusting to the Canberra lifestyle as well as setting up a new home. Jason, a keen snowboarder, is happy to be closer to the NSW ski fields while Laura looks forward to the snow season as she can read and drink hot chocolate while Jason is on the snow.
