Artist’s statement- Sarah Forrester
My most recent body of work is an exploration of humankind’s imposition upon nature. While patterns and systems occur naturally within nature and these systems are essential for the existence of life, humankind attempts to force nature into its’ own patterns and systems. I have drawn on nineteenth century décor designs, particularly those of William Morris as a symbol of this attempt to subdue nature.
