Glazing is a term used in picture framing, which describes clear covering placed over artwork to give it protection. Glazing comes in the form of either glass or acrylic.

Light is necessary to view artworks but at the same time it can be destructive. Most forms of light, whether from the sun or light sources found in homes and offices, carry harmful UV rays. Artworks placed in direct sunlight are at great risk and should be moved as soon as possible to a safe shaded area. However, even in shaded areas, artworks and photographs are at risk to UV light and will deteriorate over a period of time. Owners of artworks should give careful consideration to the effects of light when determining the type of glazing they wish to have in their framing.

Framing Matters offers a wide range of glazing. The main types of glazing on offer are UV filtered clear glass, regular clear glass, non-reflecting regular glass, UV filtered anti-reflection glass, UV filtered acrylic, regular acrylic, UV filtered anti-reflection acrylic and non-reflecting regular acrylic.
