Good framing protects artworks from damage and it enhances the aesthetic quality of the art in the frame. It should draw a viewers eye to the artwork, but not detract from it. The materials used in framing, appropriate design and correct framing techniques play an important role in protecting and enhancing the art on display.

In good framing, artefacts and artworks are not altered in any way and are attached in such a way that they can be removed from the frame without any damage to the items. The attached items in the example above are all reversible.
