THE FRAMER’S RESPONSIBILITY
 
A good framer should:
      *    have the knowledge to identify all forms of artworks in order to apply correct framing techniques.
      *    have the skills and knowledge to create a design which is appropriate for the artwork.
      *    have the knowledge to ensure that the correct materials are used in framing, particularly in preservation framing.
      *    have the knowledge and skills to attach artworks to substrates in such a way that no harm is done to the art and that  the framing is reversible.
*    have the knowledge to recognise signs of deterioration in artworks and know when to refer a client to a conservator for assessment and   
      possible treatment.
